Product Overview

Ti-5Al-2.5Sn wire is a near-alpha titanium alloy wire developed for good elevated-temperature capability and stable mechanical performance. It is commonly used in aerospace and high-performance industrial applications where improved strength and creep resistance are needed compared with commercially pure titanium, while maintaining good corrosion resistance and weldability under controlled conditions.

Typical Applications

  • Aerospace components requiring moderate elevated-temperature performance
  • Formed-wire parts, clips, clamps, and retainers for thermal cycling environments
  • Industrial hardware exposed to heat and corrosive media
  • Wire feedstock for specialty joining applications when specified

Common Sizes and Forms of Supply

  • Diameter range: 0.10 mm to 6.00 mm
  • Supply forms: spooled wire, coils, straightened and cut lengths
  • Condition options: annealed, cold-worked, stress relieved per requirement

National Grade Designations

  • International designation: Ti-5Al-2.5Sn
  • USA: UNS R54520 (commonly referenced), supplied per ASTM/AMS requirement
  • China: equivalency to be confirmed per GB/enterprise specification before substitution
  • Russia: PT-3V is not equivalent; confirm exact requirement before use

Certifications and Standards

  • ISO 9001 quality management system available
  • EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate available
  • Chemical analysis and heat/lot traceability available per order
  • ASTM/AMS compliance available when specified at purchase

Notes and Precautions

  • Mechanical properties depend on diameter, processing route, and heat treatment condition; specify your required condition (annealed/cold-worked/stress relieved).
  • For welding or critical joining, strict cleanliness and inert gas shielding are required per your WPS to prevent oxygen pickup.
  • Do not substitute “similar” alloys without confirming chemistry and allowable data under the governing standard.
