Product Overview
Grade 9 titanium wire is a titanium alloy wire known for an excellent balance of strength, formability, and corrosion resistance. Compared with commercially pure grades, it provides higher strength, and compared with Grade 5, it typically offers better cold-forming capability. Grade 9 wire is widely used for aerospace and industrial formed-wire parts, fasteners, springs, and lightweight components where reliable performance and good fabrication characteristics are required.
Chemical Composition
| Element | Content |
|---|---|
| Titanium | Balance |
| Aluminum | 2.50–3.50% |
| Vanadium | 2.00–3.00% |
| Iron | ≤ 0.25% |
| Oxygen | ≤ 0.15% |
| Carbon | ≤ 0.08% |
| Nitrogen | ≤ 0.03% |
| Hydrogen | ≤ 0.015% |
| Other elements | ≤ 0.10% each |
| Other elements total | ≤ 0.40% total |
Typical Applications
- Aerospace brackets, clips, clamps, and formed-wire components
- Springs, retainers, and lightweight fastener-related parts
- Marine and chemical service components requiring corrosion resistance and moderate strength
- Bicycles, sporting goods, and high-performance industrial hardware
- Tubing and wire-formed structures where good formability is important
Common Sizes and Forms of Supply
- Diameter range: 0.10 mm to 6.00 mm
- Supply forms: spooled wire, coils, straightened and cut lengths
- Condition options: annealed or cold-worked, with stress relief available on request
| Diameter Category | Diameter Range | Common Uses |
|---|---|---|
| Fine wire | 0.10–1.00 mm | precision forming, clips, retainers |
| Medium wire | 1.00–6.00 mm | springs, brackets, general fabrication |
National Grade Designations
- USA: ASTM Grade 9, UNS R56320
- China: TC4ELI is not equivalent; Grade 9 is commonly referenced as Ti-3Al-2.5V, domestic equivalence to be confirmed per GB requirement
- Japan: JIS Ti-3Al-2.5V
- Russia: OT4-1 (often used as an approximate equivalent in some supply chains)
Certifications and Standards
- ASTM B863 titanium alloy wire available
- ISO 9001 quality management system available
- EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate available
- Chemical analysis and heat/lot traceability available per order
Notes and Precautions
- When an exact national equivalence is required, confirm the governing standard and chemistry limits before substitution.
- Maintain clean storage and handling; surface contamination can affect corrosion performance and weld quality.
- For welding or critical joining, use full inert gas shielding and proper surface preparation per your WPS.
